Currently there is no legal framework in Ireland governing the duty of care that should be taken when working on Hybrid and Electric vehicles,

So as there is no Irish standard or required qualifications the training we will be providing is based on a standard that is currently been used in Holland called the NEN9140 this standard is very similar to standards being used in other EU countries.

Note there is no EU wide standard at the moment and any countries that have standards have developed there own standards, and most of them are based on EN50110 Operation of Electrical Installations,

The EN50110 is mostly for general electrical work and not Automotive specific.

So the NEN9140 is based on the EN50110 and modified to be Automotive specific,

The objectives of this course are that you will have gained the below confidence and knowledge needed when working on Hybrid and EV vehicles

  • Be able to  identify the different types of Hybrid and Electric vehicles,
  • How to work safely on Hybrid and EV vehicles
  • Have a good understanding of the basic working principles of a hybrid and EV vehicle
  • Have a good understanding of the different components of a hybrid and EV vehicle
  • Understand the differences and challenges presented in working on Hybrid and EV vehicles
  • Perform Service and maintenance on a Hybrid or EV vehicle
  • Have a good understanding of how to diagnose and repair hybrid and electric vehicles,
  • The 1st half of each day be spent in the classroom and the 2nd half of each day will be spent working on vehicles and components,

Below is an outline of the topics covered:
