The aim of this course is to give a generic technical overview of the main features and operating principles of the common rail diesel fuel injection system and generic test procedures, The objectives are that by the end of this presentation, you will have gained a working knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles and test procedures of common rail diesel fuel systems.
We will cover the 4 main manufactures, Bosch, Delphi, Denso and Siemens
This course will take participants through all of the key components and functions of the common rail system, including:
- Advantages and Disadvantage’s of common rail
- Most popular brands and versions and how they differ and there operation principles
- Low and high pressure fuel supply system.
- Inlet metering and fuel pressure control.
- The high pressure pump and pressure generation.
- Diesel injectors (piezo and solenoid).
- Key sensors and actuators of the common rail systems.
- Typical test for all of the above systems and components
We will be using the following equipment to show how to test and diagnosis the common rail system
- Diagnostic tool (read and interpret faults, view and interpret data stream, activate components and adapt new components)
- Pressure test equipment (test low and high pressure system)
- Return volume testing
- Oscilloscopes and multimeter (test various sensors, actuators and analyze signals)
- Injector tester and insulation tester (show how to test insulation on piezo injectors and how to carry out some basic tests with a hand pump and the MM03)
Note the above course covers the common rail system and does not cover emission related systems like DPF, EGR, SCR etc these topics are covered in the diesel intake and exhaust system training Check here for more info on this courses
